On completion of these trials, around 1725A/2, she was joined by the destroyers HMS Venus (Cdr. J.S.M. Richardson DSO, RN) and HMS Vigilant (Lt.Cdr. L.W.L. Argles, RN) which were to escort the carrier to Rosyth. These destroyers had departed Scapa Flow around 1100A/1.

Around 0600K/13, the aircraft carrier HMS Indefatigable (Capt. Q.D. Graham, CBE, DSO, RN) and the destroyers HMS Wakeful (Lt.Cdr. G.D. Pound, DSC, RN) and HMS Wrangler (Lt.Cdr. E.G. Warren, RN) departed Manus to join the British Pacific Fleet in the operations area.

On the 15th both destroyers topped off with fuel from the carrier.
