Career information
Serving on HMS Punjabi he received a Mention In Despatches and later Commanded The Captain Class Frigate HMS Waldegrave which operated with distinction in the Atlantic, English Channel and Normandy/Netherlands He later commanded a senior post in NATO operating from St Angelo in the Mediterranean.
Further to earlier data on Captain T. Hay there is actual footage of this officer boarding a yacht early in WW2 from HMS Punjabi taken by a fellow officer. It is ironic that Captain Hay later commanded a Captain Class Frigate HMS Waldegrave when his Commanding Officer of HMS Punjabi at the time of the loss of this destroyer having been cut in half by HMS King George V on May 1st 1942 - was Lt Cmdr Waldegrave!
