27 Jul 1945 (position 2.22, 101.51)
While operating together HMS Seadog (Lt. E.A. Hobson, DSC, RN) and HMS Shalimar (Lt.Cdr. W.G. Meeke, DSC, MBE, RN) destroyed a Japanese tank landing ship off Cape Rachado near position 02°22N, 101°51'E.

Later the same day HMS Seadog sank a small sailing vessel with demolition charges.

(All times are zone -6.5)
From the patrol report of Seadog
1407 hours - Sighted a tank landing ship or auxiliary transport. We have sighted this ship before off Nancowry. Seadog had then been unable to attack due to the escort that was present at that time. Now there was no escort so the old score could be settled. Called Shalimar on SST but received no reply. It was thought that she may be manoeuvring at high speed for a torpedo attack. As the range was increasing it was decided to surface and engage with the gun.

1434 hours - Surfaced and opened fire from 7000 yards. After about 20 minutes, the enemy, who had been taking no avoiding action other then increasing speed, turned 90 degrees to port. This was most likely to bring his forward gun into action, for so far there had been no return fire and the hits on the stern had most likely knocked out the machine guns on her stern.

1509 hours - Shalimar surfaced ahead. The enemy meanwhile had returned to her original course. When Shalimar suraced she again turned to port and went towards the beach. Both submarine were now attacking with their deck guns.

1516 hours - The enemy beached herself. A lot of hits had been obtained but there was yet little sign of mortal damage.

1545 hours - Ceased fire. The enemy was by now a flaming wreck.

1558 hours - Withdrew to seaward together with HMS Shalimar.

30 Jul 1945
HMS Seadog (Lt. E.A. Hobson, DSC, RN) made a torpedo attack on a Japanese coaster in convoy near the mouth of the Burnam River. No hits were obtained.

(All times are zone -6.5)
1255 hours - Sighted a convoy of 2 coasters escorted by 2 ML's. Unfortunately Shalimar was not with us. Decided to attack with torpedoes. 3 Torpedoes were fired at the leading coaster from 600 to 700 yards. One of the torpedoes was seen passing underneath the coasters. One of the ML's came towards and dropped 2 depth charges but these did no damage to Seadog who meanwhile retired to seaward.

1 Aug 1945 (position 3.06, 99.58)
While operating together HMS Seadog (Lt. E.A. Hobson, DSC, RN) and HMS Shalimar (Lt.Cdr. W.G. Meeke, DSC, RN) sink a coaster with gunfire in the Malacca Strait off the Jumpul Bank near position 03°06'N, 99°58'E.

(All times are zone -6.5)
1410 hours - Received orders from Shalimar by SST to concentrate. Information was received that the target Shalimar had sighted was an unescorted coaster.

1502 hours - Surfaced just ahead of the enemy's beam at a range of 3600 yards. Shalimar had meanwhile surfaced on the quarter of the enemy. Seadog's third round was a hit and thereafter the enemy was continuesly hit by both submarines. Soon the target was ablaze and she sank shortly afterwards. Shalimar picked up the suvivors including the Japanese captain. (12)

2 Aug 1945
While operating together HMS Seadog (Lt. E.A. Hobson, DSC, RN) and HMS Shalimar (Lt.Cdr. W.G. Meeke, DSC, RN) sink a tug and a barge with gunfire in the southern part of the Strait of Malacca near the mouth of the Burnam River.

(All times are zone -6.5)
1427 hours - Sighted a small tug towing a lighter coming down the coast. Passed this information the Shalimer.

1439 hours - Surfaced to engage the targets with the deck gun from 3000 yards. The targets were small and difficult to hit, but both targets were hit and the barge was soon settling by the stern and sank in shallow water. The tug appeared to be slowly sinking and was out of control but she too soon sank. Shalimar had meanwhile also surfaced and fired some shots. (12)

5 Aug 1945
While operating together HMS Seadog (Lt. E.A. Hobson, DSC, RN) and HMS Shalimar (Lt.Cdr. W.G. Meeke, DSC, RN) sink a coaster with gunfire in the southern part of the Strait of Malacca near Malacca.

(All times are zone -6.5)
1020 hours - Sighted a coaster coming down the coast from the Northwards. Passed an enemy report by SST to Shalimar. The coaster was not escorted.

1030 hours - Both submarines surfaced to engage the enemy, a vessel of 250 to 300 tons. She was hit repeatedly and soon turned towards the beach on fire aft. Closer inshore she burst into a huge conflagration and the submarines withdrew on the surface and left the fire to do its work.

1115 hours - Boarded and sank a junk of 120 tons. Unfortunately smoke from the fire on board the coaster attracked patrolling aircraft all day and no further junk hunting could take place. (12)
