The German submarine U-98 was sunk in the North Atlantic west of Gibraltar in position 36º09'N, 07º42'W, by depth charges from the British destroyer HMS Wrestler (Lt. R.G.B. Lacon, DSC, RN).

31 Oct 1943
HMS Wrestler (Lt. R.G.B. Lacon, DSC, RN) picks up 3 survivors from the Norwegian merchant Hallfried that was torpedoed and sunk north-east of the Azores in position 46º05'N, 20º26'W by the German submarine U-262.
