HMCS Brandon (Lt. J.C. Littler, RCNR) picks up 45 men of the British merchant Broompark that was torpedoed and damaged on 25 July 1942 by the German submarine U-552 east of Newfoundland, Canada in position 49º02'N, 40º26'W.
The Broompark finally sank at 0600 hours on 28 July 1942 while under tow of the USN tug USS Cherokee in position 47º41'N, 51º50'W.
