HMCS Arvida (T/Lt. A.I. MacKay, RCNR) picks up 52 survivors from the British merchant Empire Moonbeam and 85 survivors from the British merchant Hektoria that were torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-608 in the North Atlantic in position 48º55'N, 33º38'W.
