HMS Northern Wave (T/Lt. W.G. Pardoe-Matthews, RNR) picks up 28 survivors from the British merchant Empire Howard that was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-403 north-west of North Cape in position 73º48'N, 21º50'E.
3 Feb 1943
HMS Northern Wave (T/Lt. W.G. Pardoe-Matthews, RNR) picks up 4 survivors from the American merchant Greylock that was torpedoed and damaged by the German submarine U-255 in the Norwegian Sea in position 70º52'N, 00º21'W. The Greylock was later sunk by gunfire by one of the escorts.
