Buchanan, DSO, RAN) departed Akyab to join the destroyer HMS Rapid (Lt.Cdr. M.W. Tomkinson, DSC and Bar, RN) near Oyster Island. During the night they provided cover for convoy 'Able' from seaward during it's nighttime passage.

Around 0645FG/21, the three ships parted company to act independently as required during the landings on Ramree Island.
