HMS Active (Lt.Cdr. E.C.L. Turner, RN) arrived at Gibraltar with the whale factory ship Sevilla (British, 5135 GRT, built 1900) which was coming from Freetown with a valuable cargo of whale oil. The destroyer had made rendezvous with her in position 34°29'N, 09°00'W. (1)

27 Nov 1940
The British merchant Diplomat is torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-104 128 nautical miles west-north-west of Bloody Foreland in position 55°42'N, 11°37'W. HMS Active (A/Cdr. E.C.L. Turner, RN) later picks up 39 survivors.
