Career information
On 8 Oct 1937 Walker joined the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (RNVR), Tyne division. Prior to that he had finished a degree at Tinity College at Cambridge in 1936.
His first command, the armed trawler HMT Gaul was sunk on 3 May 1940 by German dive bombers in Kroken Bay near Namsos, Norway. He then joined the corvette HMS Bluebell, first as its First Lieutenant and then as the Commanding Officer.
Geoffrey did not marry and had no children.
