The British merchant Garmula is torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-752 about 200 nautical miles south-west of Freetown in position 05º32'N, 14º45'W. HMS Pict (Lt.Cdr. W.N.H. Faichney, RNR) later picks up 61 survivors.
