While on her 3rd war patrol USS Cavalla (Lt.Cdr. H.J. Kossler) torpedoes and sinks the Japanese auxiliary netlayers Kanko Maru (909 GRT) and Shunsen Maru (971 GRT) in the Java Sea in position 05º00'S, 112º16'E.
