USS Redfish (Cdr. L.D. McGregor) torpedoes and damages the Japanese army cargo ship Batopaha Maru (5953 GRT) north-northeast of Cape Bojeador, Luzon, Philippines in position 18º31'N, 120º32'E. The damaged ship is towed to Bangui Bay, Luzon, Philippines where she is beached and declared a total loss.
