USS Zellars is damaged by a Japanese kamikaze aircraft of Okinawa in position 26º00'N, 128º00'E. Zellars liped into Kerama Retto with extensive damage later that day.

USS Zellars puts into Long Beach Naval Shipyard for permanent repairs.
