The British merchant City of Perth was torpedoed and damaged northwest of Oran, Algeria in position 35.50N, 01.41W by the Germans submarine U-431. HMS Man o´War (Lt. G.L. Coles, RNR) took the ship in tow and it was beached south of Cape Figalo, Algeria. HMS Man o'War also pickes up 90 survivors.
