HMS Northern Wave (T/Lt. L.C. Head, RNVR) and HMS Brontes (Cdr. T.St.V.F. Tyler (retired), RN) together pick up 25 survivors from the British tanker Daghestan that was torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-57 nine nautical miles east of Copinsay, Orkneys in position 58°47'N, 02°46'W.
