History Completed in September 1938 
Notes on loss At 00.30 hours on 29 Jun, 1941, U-651 attacked the convoy HX-133 south of Iceland and sank the Grayburn. The U-boat was sunk by the escort vessels of the convoy later that day.

The master and 16 survivors from the Grayburn (Master John William Sygrove) were picked up by HMS Violet (K 35) (Lt F.C. Reynolds, RCNVR) and transferred to the British rescue ship Zaafaran (Master Charles Kavanagh McGowan, DSC). Later they were transferred to HMS Northern Wave (FY 153) (T/Lt W.G. Pardoe-Matthews, RNR) and landed at Gourock. Another survivor was rescued by HMS Arabis (K 73) (LtCdr J.P. Stewart, RNR) and landed at Londonderry. 27 crew members and 8 gunners were lost.
