| History | Built as Saga, 1931 renamed Danish Lundby for A.E. Reimann, Stensved. On 12 Jul, 1941, she was confiscated in New York by the US Government under Executive Order and transferred to the US War Shipping Administration. On 11 Aug, 1941, the ship was assigned to the US Lines Inc under a GAA agreement, two days later renamed Pink Star and registered in Panama. | ||
| Notes on loss | At 01.51 hours on 20 Sep, 1941, U-552 fired a spread of two torpedoes at the convoy SC-44 and observed a hit on the targeted ship without seeing any effect and a hit on a ship beyond which sank immediately after breaking in two. In fact, only the Pink Star (Master John S. MacKenzie) was hit and sunk. | ||
