History  
Notes on loss At 15.42 hours on 4 Dec, 1939, the Primula was hit in the stern by one torpedo from U-31 and sank within two minutes after breaking in two about 120 miles east of Stonehaven. The survivors had to jump overboat because both lifeboats were destroyed and the motor boat got stuck. The seven men, three of them injured managed to get on a raft, were rescued and taken to Methil, Scotland.
