Notes on loss At 22.44 hours on 5 Mar, 1942, the unescorted and unarmed Mariana (Master Ivan Elroy Hurlstone) was hit aft of the mast by one torpedo from U-126 off Turks Island and sank within five minutes. The crew of eight officers and 28 crewmen all perished.
