History Built as whaler Sulla for The South Georgia Co Ltd (Chr. Salvesen & Co), Leith. In March 1940 requisitioned by the Royal Navy and converted to the M/S trawler HMS Sulla (FY 1874)
Notes on loss

At 10.36 hours on 30 Mar, 1942, U-456 attacked a straggler from convoy PQ-13 and observed one torpedo hit after 55 seconds, after which the ship was seen to be listing. The xB-Dienst reported this ship as the Hondurian steam tanker Mana (3283 grt), but this ship was not damaged.

The victim could have been HMS Sulla (FY 1874), which had been part of the convoy escort on transfer to the Soviet Northern Fleet. The M/S trawler was reported missing in the Barents Sea near Bear Island since 25 March, but it is also possible that she capsized and sank after icing up in a gale that scattered the convoy around this date.

* Estimated position shown here is based on positions of losses in a roughly the same German grid code. It may be a bit off but should give a good idea as to where the attack took place.
