History In 1939 the drifter Promotive was requisitioned by the Admiralty and converted to a M/S trawler. 
Notes on loss On 23 Dec, 1939, the M/S trawlers HMS Glen Albyn and HMS Promotive sank after striking mines that were laid on 27 October by U-31 in Loch Ewe.
