History Built as American West Cahokia, 1925 renamed Pacific Fir, 1938 renamed Jacob Ruppert for US Maritime Commission, Washington DC. 1941 renamed Cocle and registered in Panama. 
Notes on loss At 03.40 hours on 12 May, 1942, the Cocle in convoy ONS-92 was torpedoed and sunk by U-94. 38 survivors were picked up by the British rescue ship Bury, but an injured man later died.
