| Notes on event | At 04.30 hours on 13 Jan 1940 the unescorted and neutral Sylvia was hit amidships by a G7a torpedo from U-20 and sank within one minute with all hands northeast of Aberdeen. The ship was reported missing after leaving Aberdeen, only the body of a crewman was later recovered from a raft. | ||
