Notes on loss At 10.29 hours on 21 Jul, 1942, the unescorted Donovania (Master Douglas Bartholomew Edgar) was torpedoed and sunk by U-160 off Grand Matelot Point, Trinidad. Three crew members and two gunners were lost. The master, 42 crew members and two gunners were picked up by British motor torpedo boats (MTBs) and the American destroyer USS Livermore (DD 429) and landed at Port of Spain, Trinidad.
