Notes on loss At 08.15 hours on 26 Jul, 1942, U-66 fired a spread of two torpedoes at the unescorted Tamandaré (Master José Martins de Oliveira) and scored a hit in the stern. The U-boat had spotted the ship at 06.58 hours and observed how the ship capsized at 08.58 hours and sank by the stern. Four crew members were lost.
