Notes on loss

On 22 Jan, 1940, the Flora was last seen in The Downs and was reported missing thereafter.

At 20.00 hours on 28 January, U-44 reported the sinking of a Greek steamer west of Figuera la Foz. The ship sank within 8 minutes after being hit aft by a stern torpedo. This must have been the Flora.

* Estimated position shown here is based on positions of losses in a roughly the same German grid code. It may be a bit off but should give a good idea as to where the attack took place.
