History Completed in April 1920 as Barrymore for Furness, Withy & Co Ltd, Liverpool. 1925 renamed Kumsang for Indo-China Steam Navigation Co Ltd, Hong Kong. 
Notes on loss At 06.20 hours on 30 Sep, 1942, the unescorted Kumsang (Master William J. Lawrence) was hit in the engine room by one stern torpedo from U-125 and sank after 15 minutes about 300 miles south of Freetown. The Germans questioned the survivors in one boat before leaving the area. Four crew members were lost. The master, 101 crew members and eight gunners landed at Cape Mount, Liberia and were brought to Freetown by the British motor launches HMS ML-302 and HMS ML-2771
