History
Notes on loss At 23.02 hours on 30 Oct, 1942, U-604 attacked the convoy SL-125 north of Madeira and observed later the Baron Vernon (Master Peter Liston) in sinking condition. At 23.19 hours, U-604 fired a torpedo on another ship and heard one hit that did not detonate after 52 seconds, probably a dud. The master, 42 crew members and six gunners were picked up by the British merchant Baron Elgin and landed at Madeira.
