| History | Ordered as M/S trawler HMS Philip Godby (FY 3783) of the Castle-class by the Admiralty. Completed in May 1919 as fishing trawler Philip Godby for H. Smethurst, Grimsby (GY 309). 1923 renamed Cisnell for Neva Steam Trawlers Ltd, Fleetwood (FD 407). 1926 renamed Togimo for Jenkerson & Jones Ltd, London (LO 122). | ||
| Notes on loss | At 03.30 hours on 11 Feb, 1940, U-37 spotted a light of a fishing trawler 68 miles southwest of Milford Haven and fired a warning shot. The Togimo (Master James Gale) put out the lights, turned away and tried to escape so the U-boat opened fire with the deck gun at 04.58 hours. The trawler sank after 26 rounds were fired. The survivors were picked up by the Spanish steam merchant Monte Navajo. | ||
