History At 1 Nov, 1939, the Langleeford was damaged in a collision with the British steam merchant Mervyn (3402 tons), which sank about 10 miles southeast of Smalls Lighthouse. 
Notes on loss At 08.00 hours on 14 Feb, 1940, the Langleeford (Master H. Thompson), a straggler from convoy HX-18, was torpedoed by U-26 about 70 miles northwest of Fastnet, Ireland and sank after 13 minutes. Four crew members were lost. The master and 29 crew members landed at Ross, Co. Clare.
