| History | Laid down as destroyer escort USS George (DE 276) of the Evarts-class for the US Navy, completed in October 1943 as frigate HMS Goodson (K 480) for the Royal Navy. | ||
| Notes on loss | At 15.14 hours on 25 Jun, 1944, U-984 fired a Gnat at the ships of the 5th Escort Group and hit the HMS Goodson (K 480) (A/LtCdr J.W. Cooper, RNR (retired)) in the stern. She was towed to Portland by HMS Bligh (K 467) (T/Lt W.B. de Quincey, RNVR) and declared a total loss. In October 1944 the ship was returned to the US Navy, but sold to be broken up at Belfast in January 1947. | ||
