History In June 1942, the Troilus was the leading ship in the Harpoon convoy to Malta. 
Notes on loss On 1 Sep, 1944, the unescorted Troilus (Master Evan Williams) was torpedoed and sunk by U-859 about 300 miles northeast of Socotra Island. Four crew members and two passengers were lost. The master, 66 crew members, 12 gunners and 16 passengers were picked up by HMS Nadder (K 392) (LtCdr P.E. Kitto) and HMS Taff (K 637) (Cdr G.A.G. Ormsby, DSO) after being sighted by a Catalina aircraft (Sqdn. 321) and landed at Aden on 10 September.
