| Notes on loss | At 08.39 hours on 21 Feb, 1945, U-1064 attacked the convoy UR-155 about 25 miles out of Belfast and reported three ships of totalling 17000 tons sunk. In fact, only the Dettifoss was hit and sank within seven minutes. Twelve crew members and three passengers were lost. 29 survivors were picked up after an hour by HMS Fusilier (T 305), taken to Scotland and later to Iceland. The sinking of Dettifoss was a harsh blow so soon after the loss of Godafoss. All public activities in Iceland were cancelled on 24 February. | ||
