| History | Completed in September 1929 as steam trawler Ebor Wyke (H78) for West Dock Steam Fishing Co, Hull. In August 1939 requisitioned by the Admiralty and converted to the M/S trawler HMS Ebor Wyke (FY 1601). She was first based at Liverpool and later in Reykjavik. On 15 Jan, 1942, USS Wichita (CA 45) was damaged in collisions with the American steam merchant West Noho and HMS Ebor Wyke (FY 1601) during a hurricane-force storm off Hvalfjordur, Iceland. | ||
| Notes on loss | At 13.31 hours on 2 May, 1945, HMS Ebor Wyke (FY 1601) (Chief Skipper H.A. Jensen, DSC, RNR) was hit by one of two torpedoes from U-979 and sank immediately off Hrafneyri Light, seven miles north of Skagi, Iceland. The only survivor was Coxswain John Milnes. | ||
