| History | Completed in November 1930 as steam trawler Kurd for William A. Bennett (Shire Trawlers Ltd), London. On 5 Sep, 1939, requisitioned by the Royal Navy and converted to the M/S trawler HMS Kurd (FY 639). | ||
| Notes on loss | On 10 Jul, 1945, HMS Kurd (FY 639) (LtCdr Roy Barrett, RNR) was sweeping mines off Cornwall and struck a mine probably laid on 18 Aug, 1944 by U-218 and sank off Lizard Head. Two officers and 14 ratings were lost. Eleven survivors were picked up by HMS Almandine (FY 645) and taken to Truro, where six of them were hospitalized. | ||
