Notes on loss At 17.53 hours on 21 Jun, 1940, the unescorted Luxembourg (Master Louis Deburges) was torpedoed and sunk by U-38 west of St. Nazaire. The ship had been diverted to Bordeaux and anchored at Le Verdon on 20 June when she was ordered to leave to Falmouth. Five men were killed and one wounded of the 46 crew members on board.
