| Notes on loss | At 02.15 hours on 29 Jul, 1940, the unescorted Clan Menzies (Master William John Hughes) was torpedoed and sunk by U-99 about 150 miles west of Loop Head, Co. Clare. Six crew members were lost. The master and 87 crew members landed at Enniscrone, Co. Sligo. | ||
