| Notes on loss | At 13.24 hours on 31 Jul, 1940, the Jersey City (Master Frank Jameson Stirling) in convoy OB-191 was torpedoed and sunk by U-99 70 miles northwest of Tory Island. Two crew members were lost. The master and 42 crew members were picked up by the British merchant Gloucester City, transferred to the British destroyer HMS Walker (D 27) (LtCdr A.A. Tait) and landed at Liverpool. | ||
