Notes on loss

At 09.14 hours on 23 Nov, 1940, the Anten in convoy OB-244 was hit amidships by one torpedo from U-123 and was abandoned by the crew. The survivors were picked up by HMS Sandwich (L 12) (Cdr M.J. Yeatman, RN) and landed at Liverpool on 27 November. The wreck sank two days later in 57°15N/17°40W.

The U-boat had tried to finish off the torpedoed ship, but it collided submerged with an object, probably another wreck or debris. Both periscopes and the conning tower were damaged and forced U-123 to break off the patrol.
