History In 1940 the American Pacific of American South African Line Inc, New York was given to by Britain and transferred to the Ministry of War Transport (MoWT). 
Notes on loss

At 00.46 hours on 2 Mar, 1941, the Pacific (Master Alan Francis King) in convoy HX-109 was hit by one torpedo from U-95 and sank rapidly by the stern about 180 miles west-southwest of Syderöy, Faroe Islands. The ship had been missed by a first torpedo at 00.44 hours. The master and 33 crew members were lost. One crew member was picked up by the Icelandic trawler Dora and landed at Fleetwood on 5 March.
