| Notes on loss | At 14.48, 14.50 and 15.16 hours on 20 May 1941, U-556 fired torpedoes at the convoy HX-126 south-southeast of Cape Farewell and sank three ships, the Darlington Court, British Security and Cockaponset. The master and 40 crew members from the Cockaponset (Master Benjamin Green) were picked up by the Dutch rescue ship Hontestroom and landed at Reykjavik on 27 May. | ||
