Notes on event

At 05.27 hours on 5 June 1942, U-159 began shelling the unescorted schooner Paracury south of the Dominican Republic. Due to heavy seas the deck gun could not be used much, so the 20mm AA gun fired holes into the waterline until the vessel capsized at 05.52 hours. The wreck was later salvaged and repaired.
