| Notes on loss | At 16.41 hours on 28 Aug, 1941, the Otaio (Master Gilbert Kinnell) in convoy OS-4 was torpedoed and sunk by U-558 about 330 miles west by north of Fastnet Rock. Twelve crew members and one gunner were lost. The master, 53 crew members and four gunners were picked up by HMS Vanoc (H 33) (LtCdr J.G.W. Deneys, DSO, RN) and landed at Liverpool. | ||
