History Completed in April 1932 as Norwegian Eidsvold for A/S Eidsica (S. Ditlev-Simonsen), Oslo. 1932 sold to the Sovietunion and renamed Varlaam Avanesov. Built as Eidsvold, 1932 renamed Varlaam Avanesov 
Notes on loss

At 21.34 hours on 19 Dec, 1941, the unescorted Varlaam Avanesov was hit by a torpedo from U-652 in the Aegean Sea and sank after about two hours 2,5 miles off Cape Babakale, Tenedes Island. The survivors abandoned ship in the lifeboats, reached the Turkish coast and were later repatriated.
