| History | Completed in May 1906 for A/S D/S Carl (L.H. Carl), Copenhagen. On 18 May, 1917, the neutral Magnus was taken as prize by UC-79 (Haecker) in the Skagerrak, but later released. | ||
| Notes on loss | At 19.21 hours on 9 Dec, 1939, the unescorted and neutral Magnus was hit in the forward hold by one torpedo from U-20 about 40 miles east-northeast of Peterhead. The foreship settled quickly and the vessel sank bow first within 90 seconds. The ship had been missed at 18.41 hours with a first torpedo. The survivor was picked up by the British steam trawler Philippe on 13 December. | ||
