Notes on event

At 18.36 hours on 25 January 1943 the Omar el Kattab was rammed and sunk by U-431 about 13 miles south of Cape Apostolos Andreas, Cyprus. Schöneboom decided to sink the small sailing vessel by ramming to avoid setting it on fire and to save ammunition.
