Notes on event

At 21.55 hours on 8 March 1943, U-190 sank an unescorted freighter with two torpedoes about 500 miles east of Cape Farewell. The victim was probably the Empire Lakeland (Master Frederick John Gudgin) which was reported missing after straggling from convoy SC-121 and presumed lost in approx. 58°N/15°W. The master, 55 crew members and eight gunners were lost.
