| Notes on loss | At 06.11 hours on 27 May, 1943, the neutral Sicilia (Master Karl Janson) was stopped by U-181 with ten shots across her bow after being spotted the first time 12 hours before. After examining the papers of the ship, the Germans ordered the crew to abandon ship within 30 minutes and then sank her by a coup de grâce at 08.29 hours. | ||
