| Notes on loss | On 25 Jan, 1944, the unescorted Fort la Maune (Master James William Binns OBE) was struck by one torpedo from U-188 and sunk east-northeast of Socotra Island. The master, 48 crew members and seven gunners landed on the Arabian coast and were brought by HMS Nigella (K 19) (Lt C.L.L. Davies) to Aden, arriving on 6 February. | ||
